Sensei Andy Nunez has been studying martial arts for over 15 years and is the highest ranking of Master Marinoble's black belts. Sensei Nunez started martial arts lessons with Master Marinoble at the age of 14. After only a year of training Master Marinoble invited Mr. Nunez into the instructor training program. A year later, shortly after earning his instructor certification, Mr. Nunez earned his black belt.
Mr. Nunez started competing in open martial arts tournaments in 1998 where he found great success as a forms competitor (forms are martial arts routines in which martial technique is demonstrated) winning two first place titles at the Las Vegas International Karate Championships. From 1998 to 2004 Mr. Nunez won numerous titles on the open martial arts tournament circuit in forms.
In 2004 on one week's notice, Mr. Nunez was asked to join the United States Sport Jujitsu team (Sport Jujitsu is a fighting sport that involves kicking, punching, throwing, and grappling.) as a replacement for the team's injured lightweight fighter. At the time Master Marinoble was member of the U.S. team and suggested to the head coach, Professor Cary, that Mr. Nunez would be the best choice to fill the opening. Being new to Sport Jujitsu, Mr. Nunez did his best to help support the team and traveled to Kitchener, Ontario, Cannada where the WCJJO World Jujitsu Championships were being held. As part of the U.S. team Mr. Nunez was able to help the U.S. earn a silver medal. After that tournament Mr. Nunez competed in numerous local sport jujitsu tournaments winning them all. Mr. Nunez also competed in two North American Sport Jujitsu tournamnets as part of the U.S. Team. In 2007 the WCJJO World Jujitsu Championships were held in Jersey, Channel Islands, U.K. That year the U.S. team did not place in the top three, however in individual competition Mr. Nunez fought and earned a sivler medal.
In 2009 Mr. Nunez earned his 4th degree black belt from Master Marinoble. The 4th degree is considered a Master's rank in the style of Bok Fu. Mr. Nunez was given the very same black belt that was given to Master Marinoble when he earned his 4th degree from Master James Kane.
In October of 2010 Mr. Nunez married his long time love, Lisa Tierney, who herself is a 3rd degree black belt and earned a Gold medal at the WCJJO world championships in 2007.
